Ophthalmic Technician 2 (H) - Full Time - Palm Beach Gardens, Florida University of Miami – Bascom Palmer Eye Institute is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician 2 (OT2) to provide comprehensive eye care in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.

Job Functions

Performs and documents clinical items in the electronic medical record (EMR).

Reason for visit, tangent screen visual fields, chief complaint, basic ocular motility, history of present illness.

Pupillary evaluation, basic review of systems, ocular surface assessment, review systemic and ocular medications.

Eye drop administration, record allergies, intraocular pressure (Goldman, Tono‑Pen, I‑Care).

Pharmacy information, pachymetry, family, social, medical, and ocular history.

Insertion and removal of hard & soft contact lenses, visual acuity at distance and near, color vision test.

Lensometry, stereopsis test, manual refraction, sensorimotor exam, confrontational fields.

Automated & manual perimetry, Humphrey visual fields, Virtual Reality (VR) visual fields, Amsler Grid visual fields.

Provides support to providers, patient‑centric care, adherence to policies, patient confidentiality, best practices of patient safety, hand hygiene, infection control.

Attends educational courses, demonstrates high quality of work, meets daily productivity goals, maintains JCAHPO certifications.

Ensures all equipment is calibrated, participates in clinical research, organizes and stocks rooms.

Travels to satellite eye centers, works evenings and weekends as needed, performs organizational duties, completes IVI prep, facilitates motility exams.

Supports Virtual Care encounters and exams, performs imaging (fundus photos, OCTs, slit lamp exams), assists with training, onboarding clinical support staff.

Acts as a super‑user for technology implementations, optimizations, training initiatives, preceptor and trainer for team members, serves as a lead technician providing oversight to clinical teams when assigned.

Qualifications Education High School diploma or equivalent.

Required Certification and Licensing Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA).

Experience 2 years of relevant experience.

Prepares patients for intravitreal injections.

Ability to function as an ophthalmic scribe.

Proficient in Microsoft Office.
