The Colorado Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) has four major operational divisions: Army National Guard, Air National Guard, Civil Air Patrol, and Veterans Affairs. These divisions utilize state and federal resources to provide our communities, State, and nation with a ready military force for national defense and State emergency response as well as providing assistance to our Colorado Veterans.

This position works Tuesday through Friday, 6:15 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. performing preventative maintenance on heating and air conditioning systems and assists a journeyman in the repairs, maintenance, and installation of heating, air conditioning, refrigeration, ventilation, fire protection, building equipment, utility, and other related systems on Buckley Space Force Base.

Specific duties include assisting with installing, modifying, and repairing of:

a variety of low pressure steam boilers

hot water boilers

pumps

forced air heating units and ventilating systems

new and existing air conditioning units including hermetic, semi-hermetic, absorption, cooling towers, and other open-type equipment; and

new and existing refrigeration equipment including walk-in and reach-in coolers and freezers.

Assist with all electrical work on:

heating

air conditioning

refrigeration systems

Assist with the installation of new wiring on:

control circuits

pneumatic control systems

direct digital controls

temperature and humidity controls

Read and interpret diagrams, schematics, manufacturer's specifications, and technical orders. Assist other work units such as grounds and pavement, electrical, custodial, etc. Will require occasional travel to the Air National Guard base in Greeley as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Three years of progressively responsible professional (not personal home) experience in heating, ventilating, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems and/or HVAC systems.

Must have CFC License (please attach copy to application).

Must have and maintain a current and valid Colorado Driver's License.

Must be able to pass a background investigation.

Must have the ability to submit to random drug and alcohol testing.

Must be able to obtain a security clearance within six months of hire.

Must be willing to work overtime and/or on-call as needed.

SUBSTITUTIONS Successful completion of a formalized plumbing, pipe fitting, steam fitting, or heating, ventilation and air conditioning apprenticeship program, or higher level, non-correspondence course work in the same fields from an accredited vocational school or university may substitute for one year of the experience.
