As a Banking Service Professional, the Personal Banker will provide effective support of sales and service activities within the banking office. You will develop new business by educating existing and potential clients and exemplifying Valley’s quality service standards. Your responsibilities also include routine banking transactions, supporting the Market Manager and complying with operational procedures.

Responsibilities

Provide exceptional customer service in accordance with Valley’s mission and engage customers with friendly and professional service.

Know all Bank products and services; educate and demonstrate customers on them, cross‑sell various products and services.

Present a confident, professional demeanor to establish trust, analyze needs, and recommend appropriate products and services.

Meet with customers to analyze financial needs and maximize sales opportunities; open new accounts, discuss and sell loan products, promote online and mobile banking.

Meet customer expectations and achieve service quality standards; oversee the sales referral process and coach branch staff.

Perform all requested transactions using appropriate technology; maintain and balance a cash box.

Act as Vault Teller ensuring adequate branch cash, ordering and shipping currency, and controlling cash distribution.

Participate in community events and support CRA initiatives.

Report significant matters or unusual customer activity to Manager; maintain compliance with regulatory requirements.

Maintain knowledge of and comply with the Bank’s Code of Conduct and all policies and procedures.

Required Skills

Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to write correspondence and demonstrate products accurately.

Strong customer‑service orientation; attentiveness, information retention, tact and diplomacy in dealings with customers and employees.

Analytical, problem‑solving and decision‑making skills to resolve complex customer issues.

Make sound decisions quickly regarding customer transactions, balancing customer satisfaction with Bank exposure to loss or fraud.

Interpret instructions from written, oral or diagrammatic sources.

Deep understanding of Retail Banking and strong customer‑service skills to engage clients in product discussions.

Detail‑oriented, highly organized, and accurate.

Manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Proficient computer skills.

Required Experience

High School diploma or GED with at least 1 year of branch banking service experience, or completion of a Valley Retail training program.

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred; concentration in accounting, business, finance, economics or a related field.

Preferred Experience

FIS/IBS (Integrated Banking Solutions) experience.
