Personal Banker – Valley Bank

Responsibilities
Provide exceptional customer service in accordance with Valley’s mission statement.
Educate customers on bank products and services, cross‑sell various products and services.
Present a confident and professional demeanor, establish trust, analyze customer needs and recommend appropriate products and services.
Open new accounts (checking, savings, CD, IRA), sell loan products, and demonstrate online and mobile banking capabilities.
Meet customer expectations and achieve service quality standards, support the sales referral process and assist in coaching branch staff.
Perform all customer transactions efficiently, using technology such as teller scanning equipment, cash recycling, cash dispensing and coin machines.
Act as vault teller, ensuring branch cash adequacy and supporting currency ordering and shipping.
Participate in community events and CRA initiatives.
Report significant matters, issues and unusual customer activity to management, maintain compliance with regulatory requirements.
Maintain knowledge of the Bank’s Code of Conduct and all policies and procedures.
Required Skills
Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to write correspondence and demonstrate products accurately.
Strong interpersonal skills, attentiveness, information retention, tact and diplomacy with customers and employees.
Strong analytical, problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities; make sound on‑the‑spot decisions balancing customer satisfaction with risk.
Ability to interpret various instructions in written, oral or diagrammatic form.
Deep understanding of retail banking and strong customer service skills.
Detail oriented, strong organizational skills, high degree of accuracy.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Proficient computer skills.
Required Experience
High school diploma or GED and minimum 1 year of business services experience in branch banking and knowledge of branch operations or successful completion of a Valley Retail training program.
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance, economics or a related field is preferred.
Preferred Experience
Experience with FIS/IBS (Integrated Banking Solutions).
