Signal Systems Technician II
The City of Fort Worth TPW Transportation Management Division is seeking a highly skilled Signal Systems Technician II to support the installation, maintenance, and repair of traffic signals and Integrated Traffic Systems. The position requires on‑call service, shift work and participation in emergency responses.
Pay Range Pay Range:
$24.67 - $30.83/hr.

We are procuring or implementing new traffic signal controller hardware & software, central traffic‑management software, a citywide cellular network, PTZ cameras, and other ITS devices.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma/GED with additional specialized training in traffic signal systems and/or electrical wiring
Three (3) years of increasingly responsible electronic and/or electrical experience in the repair and maintenance of electronic equipment and/or traffic signal and street lighting systems
Possession of Class “B” Commercial Driver’s License or ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire date
Possession of or ability to obtain IMSA Traffic Signal Technician Level 1 certificate within 12 months of hire date
Preferred Qualifications
Four (4) or more years of experience in traffic signal systems, electrical wiring, and maintaining signal equipment like controllers and vehicle detection systems
Four (4) or more years of experience troubleshooting traffic signals and school zone flashers
Possession of an Electrician’s License
IMSA Level II Certified
Work Zone Traffic Control Certified
Job Responsibilities
Lead, oversee, and participate in complex work of employees responsible for installation, maintenance, and repair of traffic signals.
Operate and instruct employees in the operation of various electronic devices.
Provide customer service and computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
Operate Bucket Truck and Line Truck.
Fill in as crew leader when not on site.
Working Conditions Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling and lifting. Incumbents may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting and intense noises.
Physical Demands Medium work – may exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 20 pounds of force constantly when moving objects.
