We’re seeking passionate leaders to join our team as a Department Manager leading our Customer Service/Front End and General Merchandise teams for our East Detroit Market. What You’ll Be Doing
Engage with team members in span of care to ensure they are receiving appropriate onboarding, training and development, and coaching and feedback.
Identify talent and engage in career discussions to support overall store staffing and ensure a diversified talent pipeline strategy for team member and leadership roles.
Conduct candid discussions with team members to uphold Meijer standards and foster growth opportunities within the organization.
Assume accountability for area operations and financial results by overseeing execution of corporate plans and owning budget line items in the P&L.
Drive safety and compliance throughout the store and manage overall condition while following all compliance procedures.
Ensure Team Leaders and Leads provide guidance and assign daily work assignments, as well as address training needs.
Perform additional duties as assigned or required.
What You Bring With You (Qualifications)
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
Minimum 4+ years of retail/grocery or customer service experience.
Progressive leadership experience preferred.
Passion to provide industry‑leading service.
Excellent communication skills with an ability to give clear and precise direction.
Strong analytical skills to interpret financial and statistical information.
Commitment to safety and ability to lead a safety‑focused organization.
Creative, proactive thinking applied to business challenges.
Understanding of seasonal and diverse merchandising to meet customer needs and grow sales.
Strong business acumen and innovative mindset.
Dedication to fostering an inclusive environment where all team members and vendors feel valued.
