The Opportunity MCL Construction is seeking a Financial Accountant / Staff Accountant to join our expanding Finance team. This role is ideal for a motivated, detail-oriented professional who enjoys taking ownership, learning new systems, and contributing to both daily accounting operations and broader financial initiatives. You’ll play a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, strengthening internal controls, and supporting the company’s continued growth.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and process tax filings, including multi-state requirements
Manage intercompany transactions and reconciliations
Complete bank reconciliations and oversee credit card activity
Coordinate benefits processing in partnership with HR and payroll
Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules
Manage workers’ compensation reporting and compliance
Support annual audits by preparing documentation and explanations
Develop, document, and improve internal controls and accounting procedures
Maintain fixed asset tracking and management
Prepare and post monthly journal entries
Generate ad hoc financial and management reports
Assist with budget preparation and ongoing financial monitoring
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve processes, accuracy, and transparency
Preferred Experience & Qualifications
Experience with multi-state tax filings
Joint venture accounting experience
Federal or government-related accounting experience preferred
Experience with CMiC ERP system is a plus
Strong understanding of GAAP and core accounting principles
High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team
Clear communicator with a proactive mindset
