Responsibilities

Guide students and parents(families) through the financial aid process, including the completion of relevant forms such as the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

Inform and educate students and parents (families) about different types of financial aid available, such as scholarships, grants, and loans

Communicate with students about their financial aid package and any adjustments that may occur

Assist students with loan applications, entrance and exit counseling, and debt management

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal, state, and institutional financial aid policies and regulations

Coordinate with other departments in the institution, including the admissions and registrar’s offices, to ensure accuracy in student records

Help students understand the implications of their financial decisions, promoting responsible borrowing

Responds to all student communication (email/phone calls) within 24 to 48 hours

Conduct scheduled appointments with new and continuing students

Conduct financial aid presentations and workshops for prospective and current students

Minimum Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in finance, Business Administration, or a related field

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience in financial aid counseling or a related field is preferred

May require evening and weekend work.
