About J. Baur Machining is a manufacturing company located in Mars, PA. We have been a leader in precision machining and contract manufacturing for over 40 years. We are a family‑owned business with about 20 employees. Our clean, climate‑controlled facility is equipped with 18 CNC machines, including Mazak Multi‑Tasking and other advanced equipment.
Who Are We Looking For We are seeking a mid‑level or experienced CNC machinist who can read blueprints, operate hand and power tools, and troubleshoot on machines. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working independently on multiple machines and can meet nightly production goals. As a Machine Lead, you will be the point of contact for the 2nd shift and will operate top‑notch CNC equipment such as Mazak Multi‑Tasking, Mazak Horizontals, and HAAS Verticals.
What Your Day May Look Like
Receive instructions from the 1st Shift CNC set‑up machinists for part execution.
Act as the 2nd shift point of contact, troubleshooting and maintaining the production schedule.
Maintain part specifications based on the product’s blueprint.
Operate manual and CNC machine tools, load/unload material, observe cutting processes, perform tool life maintenance, and report defective material, product, or equipment.
Complete finishing operations to ensure parts meet specifications.
Perform routine machine maintenance and assist with diagnosis and repairs.
Run multiple pieces of equipment.
Work the 2nd shift Monday thru Thursday 11:00 AM‑10:30 PM, earning shift differential.
The Perfect Candidate
At least 5 years of experience as a machinist/operator in a CNC manufacturing environment.
Strong blueprint reading skills and proficiency in dimensions and tolerances.
Ability to use hand or power tools and finishing tools.
Good math skills.
Mechanical aptitude and meticulous work habits.
Team player with a positive attitude and ability to accept constructive feedback.
Must be able to pass a drug and background check.
Taking Care of You This position’s pay is competitive and reflects the experience you bring. Salary is negotiated based on experience. The role offers paid holidays and PTO, a competitive medical, dental, and vision package (with costs largely covered by the company), a 401(k) retirement plan, and opportunities for growth. The 2nd shift typically works 44 hours per week, with the option to work overtime. Enjoy Friday thru Sunday off for a long weekend.
