Job Description This leadership position will report to the VP, PCS Oncology and will be an active member of the PCS Oncology leadership team. The Head of Hematology Franchise will act as a thought partner to the leadership team and cross‑functional teams, focusing on developing strategies and tactics to accelerate our leadership in core disease areas within hematological malignancies and expand into adjacent areas.

In partnership with our early pipeline and BD team, create strategies that enable us to further anchor, bolster, or replace existing anchors within our pipeline in hematological malignancies, including novel technologies, targets, and/or modalities that may not currently be within our pipeline.

Develop rigor in assessing commercial viability of our pipeline and external opportunities, integrating key insights and competitive landscape data.

Lead pivotal / enterprise process transformation and capability build for the pipeline commercialization and strategy team (PCS), enabling early brand plan, disease area strategy, and strategic long‑range planning (LRP).

Responsibilities

Develop, champion, and communicate vision and overall strategy to stakeholder groups, gaining commitment and support for portfolio prioritization, asset strategies, and BD investments.

Understand market, key segment value drivers, growth opportunities, target product profiles, product positioning, and revenue potential for multiple Phase II+ assets/indications within the hem franchise to drive winning portfolio value‑proposition plans and strong P&L investment thesis.

Define and drive strategic value creation across lifecycle alongside R&D and commercial cross‑functional partners for AbbVie’s hematology portfolio.

Partner with the PCS VP to deliver optimal commercial strategies that maximize value across the hem franchise’s assets and integrated portfolio.

Collaborate with Medical Affairs, Health Impact, Early & Late Clinical Development, and Commercial cross‑functional leaders to develop scientific platforms and drive data generation for target product labels and claims.

Oversee development and delivery of Target Product Profiles (TPP) within the hem franchise.

Oversee development of business cases for governance endorsement.

Identify new value generation for the franchise to unlock further opportunity and accelerate commercialization.

Drive prioritization of key leverage points in the treatment process and develop behavioral objectives for each stakeholder group.

Manage risk, opportunity, and issue at strategic and operational levels across the franchise.

Initiate geo‑strategy and indication prioritization in partnership with R&D, commercial cross‑functional leaders, and affiliates for optimal reimbursement and access strategies.

Establish strong external networks, engaging clinical experts.

Exhibit clear and courageous leadership behavior, implementing optimal program structures for timely decisions.

Partner with Investor Relations to develop and manage external messages for the analyst community.

Manage partnership & alliance agreements to drive maximum value.

As a people leader, coach and develop talent, set goals, succession plan, and execute performance management aligned to business KPIs.

Broaden AbbVie’s oncology network through scientific, academic, KOL, payer, and patient advocacy relationships.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (MBA, Ph.D., or MD) preferred.

10–15+ years of progressive commercial leadership experience in the pharmaceutical industry, with recent in‑line operational experience and P&L ownership in the U.S. or other major markets.

Successful product launch experience preferred.

Managed care experience preferred.

Oncology therapeutic experience required, with multiple myeloma experience preferred.

Global experience preferred.

Ability to influence and manage complex sets of internal and external stakeholders.

Strong strategic marketing skills with structured approach and scientific/clinical understanding.

Strong financial and commercial acumen, with capability to develop P&L drivers and forward‑looking sales forecasts.

Executive presence and leadership skills imperative for senior‑level presentations.

Demonstrated experience leading organizational change.

Outstanding partnering skills, leading multi‑disciplinary teams in a matrixed environment.

Track record of coaching and developing teams and individuals.

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location.
