Position Summary The
Blending Supervisor
is responsible for the supervision of the entire batching operation, including staffing and training, productivity, quality, and safety. This position is also responsible for the Food Safety and Food Quality programs. This role reports to the Blending Manager and is based out of our Hendersonville, NC location.
Primary Responsibilities Include
Supervise daily operations of the batching, bulk tanker unloading, and staging including following basic production scheduling, work assignments, employee supervision, counseling, employee safety and administration of company policies and procedures.
Prepare written performance evaluations and counsel employees as needed.
Resolve any employee issues and document disciplinary actions and performance recognition to all employees in their area.
Train all batching employees to include blending of all types of products produced.
Conduct training for employees (new and tenured) on proper use of equipment and department procedures.
Monitor, assess, and make modifications to training based on individual employee training needs.
Observe employee performance to ensure they follow established standards and procedures.
Obtain production schedule, review schedule requirements and communicate work schedule and goals to staff.
Monitor production status, including speeds to ensure lines are not waiting on juice.
Verify all production is within the established standards (e.g., waste, yield, etc.) Receive and resolve operation problem areas.
Supervise daily set up of machinery and equipment prior to startup for efficient and effective operation.
Perform as backup for any position up to five times per day or in an emergency situation. All these activities are directed toward ensuring the productivity of batching operations.
Determine the order of processing based on the production schedule and product availability. Visually inspect project and/or operations to ensure the quality of juice in batches are to company specifications. Oversee the checking for color, ingredients mixture, and client specifications to ensure quality.
Train employees in the set‑up, safety, and housekeeping procedures and assist blenders with setup when necessary.
Work with the safety committee in investigations and preventative actions.
Communicate any hazards to maintenance as required for corrective action.
Resolve all errors related to batches. Assure all employees follow company policies, procedures, and established work instructions. Comply with all federal and local regulatory requirements and LPC company and plant procedures.
Verify the QA#s pulled are correct based on receiving log/spreadsheet.
Train new employees that are hired in the work area assigned.
Advanced knowledge of the field.
Lead by example and assist others who may need guidance.
Be accessible for employees to ask questions regarding areas of expertise.
Provide positive recognition to employees who exhibit good behavior in their work area.
Provide feedback to managers on individual and team performance.
This role will be required to taste test products as needed, up to a couple of ounces per test.
Work with corporate R&D on new product launches as needed.
Report production to Accounting, identify when finished product recounts are needed.
Monitor production yields, adjust as needed.
Review QA production records
Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

Manage blenders; blending leads, stager, bulk receiver.
Monitor employee productivity and provide constructive feedback, coaching, counseling, and disciplining; conducting training; implementing enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications.
Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees; maintaining a safe, secure, and legal work environment; developing personal growth opportunities.
Communicates job expectations; planning, monitoring, and assessing job results; coaching, and counseling employees; developing, coordinating, and enforcing systems, procedures, and productivity standards.
Establishes strategic goals; identifying and evaluating trends; choosing a course of action; defining objectives; evaluating outcomes.
Education And Experience Minimum Required Qualifications
A high school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
Forklift certification 1 year
2 years’ experience in manufacturing; 1 year of supervisory experience required.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions This position requires sufficient physical ability to work in a production setting.
FREQUENT:
Ability to talk and hear; ability to sit for prolonged periods to perform computer and administrative work, stand, walk, climb stairs, stoop, bend and/or crouch; use of hands and fingers to operate machinery/equipment and all manual and electronic equipment in area of responsibility. Exposure to wet and humid conditions and fluctuations in ambient temperature (seasonal).
OCCASIONAL:
Squatting, kneeling, ability to reach above and at shoulder height; ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds, assist in batching. Exposure to toxic and corrosive chemicals.
