Job Description WSP is looking for a Senior Technical Director, Environmental Engineering for our California offices (Oakland, Rancho Cordova, Roseville, Petaluma, San Jose, Fresno, Costa Mesa, and San Diego) with experience in consulting, selling, managing, designing and implementing environmental multi‑media remediation programs for clients in the industrial, government, energy, oil & gas and transportation sectors. The candidate will help expand our environmental consulting business in California and the West. The Oakland office provides a broad range of services in engineering and environmental sciences, including environmental assessment and remediation, water/wastewater engineering, water resources, environmental compliance, geotechnical design, stormwater infrastructure design, materials testing, and decision analysis.
Your Impact
Perform business development within oil & gas and industrial/commercial sectors for environmental remediation, engineering and related services.
Lead customer care for at least one oil & gas or industrial/commercial client.
Design, oversee, mentor and direct the efforts of staff‑ and project‑level engineers.
Assist preparation of technical reports and proposals.
Collaborate with service line leader, sector lead, other principal and senior‑level employees in the office and firm‑wide.
Manage multiple projects, ensuring that deliverables, schedules and budgets are achieved.
Travel to projects as needed for execution of project goals and business development.
Meet sales, revenue and delivery goals.
Required Qualifications
BS in civil, chemical, environmental, geological or related engineering field.
Consulting experience with petroleum contamination cleanups in soil and groundwater, including LNAPL and/or chlorinated solvent contamination.
15+ years of related environmental remediation and sales experience in California with direct client account management.
California (civil) Professional Engineer’s license.
Strong work ethic, self‑starter, team‑oriented with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong project and program management experience.
Experience with remediation/assessment projects involving the Regional Quality Water Quality Control Board, DTSC and/or one of the local CUPAs.
Ability to mentor and direct engineers and technicians.
Experience with CERCLA, RCRA, DTSC, Water Board and other CalEPA programs.
Consulting experience in soil gas and vapor intrusion issues.
Experience developing and managing complex engineering design and design‑build projects.
Oversee remedy construction and operation and maintenance of environmental project work.
Preferred Qualifications
40‑hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) (29 CFR 1910.120).
Basic First Aid and adult CPR training.
