Scope Technician – Telemetry (Part‑time, A‑shift)

Phelps Health is a 2000‑employee‑strong hospital system serving the heart of small‑town Missouri. We are looking for team members ready to provide life‑saving care and support for our patients. The Scope Technician will observe telemetry monitors and perform receptionist and secretarial duties on the unit.
General Summary
The Scope Technician is responsible for monitoring telemetry, serving as a communication point in the nursing station, and supporting unit operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Follow hospital policies on patient safety and infection prevention; continuously observe rhythms and identify patterns; ensure cardiac monitoring equipment is functioning appropriately.
Notify nursing staff of alarm issues, incorrect lead attachment, or significant rhythm changes.
Perform clerical duties: filing, printing, copying, entering charges, maintaining printers/fax machines, chart labeling, and supply orders.
Document rhythm changes during treatments; measure intervals; post strips every four hours and as needed; maintain patient boards in the telemetry room.
Answer calls promptly, collaborate with ancillary departments, and update call logs.
Adhere to hospital policies on appearance, behavior, and attendance; maintain an organized work area.
Education
High school diploma or GED required.
Work Experience
One year of clerical, receptionist, or hospital duties preferred.
Organization, time‑management, typing, and basic computer skills required.
Certification/License
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
Successful completion of Basic Arrhythmia course upon hire.
Mental/Physical Requirements
Considerable mental concentration; lifting up to 25 lbs.; standing, walking, and turning for significant periods.
Working Conditions
Exposure to infectious disease and bodily fluids; moderate physical discomfort possible.
