Summary The Investigator, Employee Relations plays a critical role in cultivating a fair, inclusive, and high-trust workplace at Lonza's Houston biologics manufacturing facility. You will handle sensitive employee matters with care, consistency, and integrity—conducting impartial, thorough investigations and partnering across teams to promote accountability and belonging. This role involves leading internal investigations on a broad range of issues, supporting program improvements by identifying trends and action plans, and making recommendations to ensure compliance and enhance internal processes.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage investigations across functions at the Houston site (14905 Kirby Drive), including alleged violations of company policies, laws, ethical standards, and general employee relations matters.

Draft thoughtful, well-structured documentation, such as investigation reports, talking points, and corrective action guidance.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Legal, Ethics & Compliance, IT, Quality, EHS, local HR, and outside counsel) to ensure comprehensive and objective investigations.

Exercise sound judgment to balance employee fairness, legal compliance, and business priorities.

Conduct detailed root cause analyses for substantiated allegations and recommend corrective/preventive actions to mitigate recurrence.

Document findings, decisions, and recommendations in appropriate systems for thorough recordkeeping and internal reporting.

Support data gathering and analysis of investigation trends, risks, and improvement areas in collaboration with the HR team.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree (minimum) in Human Resources, Business, Law, or related field.

Prior investigation experience, preferably in a multinational company like Lonza.

Strong communication skills, including verbal and report writing.

Strong knowledge of employment law, HR practices, and compliance frameworks.

Exceptional analytical, documentation, and communication skills.

Proven ability to build trusted relationships.

Demonstrated discretion, empathy, and resilience in handling confidential, sensitive issues.

Experience conducting interviews on sensitive matters.

Strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in manufacturing, biotech, or regulated industries (e.g., cell and gene therapy at Lonza).

Certification in investigations (e.g., Certified Employee Relations Professional or similar).

Familiarity with HRIS or case management systems.
