Summary Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations Mission Support Division located in Tucson, Arizona. Additional selections may be made for other organizational divisions and/or units within the duty location(s) listed above.
Duties
This position will allow you to use your expertise in administration overseeing the implementation of programs and policies related to a variety of administrative processes.
Participate in analyzing the effects of changes in law and regulations as they pertain to management services.
Define issues or problems in terms that are compatible with appropriate laws, policies, or regulations.
Perform assignments requiring the application of fundamental principles, concepts, techniques, and guidelines in an administrative specialty area(s).
Conduct detailed planning to gather and interpret information and data for complex problems, issues, and unusual circumstances.
Determine the most effective and efficient approach to meet customer requirements.
Apply analytical and evaluative methods and techniques to issues or studies concerning the efficiency and effectiveness of program operations.
Requirements
You must be a U.S. Citizen.
Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered with Selective Service.
Primary U.S. residency for at least three of the last five years.
All pre‑employment processes will be conducted in English.
You may be required to pass a background investigation.
CBP follows the DHS Drug‑Free Workplace Plan for drug testing procedures.
Must be subject to government ethics standards and rules applicable to all Executive Branch employees, including conflict of interest statutes.
DHS uses E‑Verify to confirm eligibility to work in the U.S.
Position is covered under the National Treasury Employees Union – NTEU.
Qualifications Experience: You qualify for the GS‑11 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. This includes planning, gathering, and interpreting information, determining efficient approaches, participating in complex studies, and proposing recommendations. Your resume must explicitly indicate how you meet this requirement. Education Substitution: A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or three full years of progressively higher‑level graduate education leading to such a degree or an LL.M. must be demonstrated with proof. Combining Education and Experience may also qualify. Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements by 01/05/2026.
Education Submit a copy of your college transcript (unofficial is acceptable at this time; official copies will be required prior to entrance on duty) or a list of coursework with hours completed. Education must be from an accredited institution. Foreign education must be evaluated by a recognized organization.
