Cyber Operations Watch Technician – Swing Shift Join KaylaTek® and apply for the Cyber Operations Watch Technician – Swing Shift role. This position is located at Joint Base Andrews, MD and focuses on network monitoring and incident management for the Air Force National Capital Region (AFNCR).

SHIFT:

Tuesday – Saturday 1400-2230

CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

CompTIA Security+ CE or IAT Level II equivalent

SECURITY CLEARANCE:

Currently possess an active Secret clearance

JOB SUMMARY:

The AFNCR IT Services program provides support for information systems across the AFNCR mission, including the Pentagon, JBA, JBAB and other sites. The Operations Watch Technician will monitor the AFNCR network and critical services using System Center Operations Manager (SCOM), SolarWinds, and site‑specific tools.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Monitor network health using SolarWinds and SCOM; identify and analyze alerts for potential issues.

Determine the impact of network events and appropriately escalate incidents, creating Remedy tickets for internal support teams or ServiceNow tickets for enterprise incidents.

Accurately route and assign tickets to the correct resolution teams to ensure timely resolution.

Maintain detailed records of network events, actions taken, and communication related to incidents.

Collaborate effectively with technical teams and stakeholders to troubleshoot and resolve issues.

Contribute to the continuous improvement of monitoring processes and procedures.

Stay current on the latest network technologies and monitoring best practices.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in an operations center.

Bachelor’s degree required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE ALTERNATIVES:

Master’s degree with no required experience.

No degree with 6 years of intensive and progressive experience demonstrating required proficiency.

Active DoD security clearance (verified by FSO).

Current DoD 8570 baseline certification for IAT II (e.g., GSEC, Security+ CE, SCNP, SSCP).

Proven experience in network monitoring and incident management.

Hands‑on experience with SCOM and SolarWinds monitoring platforms.

Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, routing, and server technologies (Windows/Linux).

Experience with Remedy and ServiceNow ticketing systems.

Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and troubleshooting skills.

Strong written and verbal communication skills for both technical and non‑technical audiences.

Independence and teamwork in a fast‑paced, 24/7 operational environment.

Strong attention to detail and prioritization.

Fundamental knowledge of Windows Servers, networking, DHCP, subnetting, and other IT disciplines.
