Facilities/Equipment Maintenance Technician
Salem Correctional Center and Jail, Harrison County.
Responsibilities
Perform general preventive maintenance on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, masonry, carpentry, ventilation, and renovation systems.
Maintain facility grounds, including mowing, trimming, and snow/ice removal.
Manage tool and supply inventories, maintain related logs and charts, and prepare purchase orders.
Oversee inmate work crews and perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from a 4‑year high school, GED, 4‑year apprenticeship program, or 2‑year post‑secondary technical school.
Four years of full‑time (or equivalent part‑time) experience in heating, cooling, ventilation, or the mechanical/building trades (plumbing, electrical, carpentry, plasterer, painter, welder, machinist, mechanic, masonry).
Experience in air‑conditioning, heating, or refrigeration may substitute for required training on a year‑for‑year basis.
Certification from a federal EPA‑approved testing organization may be required for refrigerant recycling.
Additional Information Applicants must verify education and work experience through official documents. Veterans preference requires submission of the “MEMBER 4” form or VA letter.
