Facilities/Equipment Maintenance Technician – DHS – DCR – Salem Correctional Center and Jail – Harrison Co.
Under general supervision, this technician performs all general preventative maintenance for the Facility. The role includes routine maintenance of HVAC, electrical and plumbing systems, as well as maintenance of the Facility Grounds (mowing, trimming, snow and ice removal). The technician maintains detailed tool and supply inventories, logs, charts and completes purchase orders. The technician may oversee inmate work crews and will perform other tasks as assigned. Responsibilities
Perform routine preventive maintenance on HVAC, electrical and plumbing systems. Maintain Facility Grounds (mowing, trimming, snow and ice removal). Maintain detailed tool and supply inventories. Maintain logs, charts and complete purchase orders for the department. Oversee inmate work crews. Perform other tasks as assigned. Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma, GED, four‑year apprenticeship program or two‑year post‑secondary technical school. Four years of full‑time or equivalent part‑time paid experience in heating, cooling, ventilation or the mechanical or building trades (plumbing, electrical, carpentry, plasterer, painter, welder, machinist, mechanic or masonry work). Experience in air‑conditioning, heating or refrigeration may be substituted for the required training on a year‑for‑year basis. Specific positions may require certification from a federal EPA‑approved testing organization as a certified technician required by the Clean Air Act on refrigerant recycling.
