The UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy is one of five health science schools at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The School teaches approximately 600 PharmD students and 145 graduate students, and has been named the number one School of Pharmacy in the U.S. by the U.S. News and World Report. It pursues excellence through rigorous education, cutting‑edge research, and progressive pharmacy practices.

Position Summary The Heinzen laboratory in the Division of Pharmacotherapy and Experimental Therapeutics, in collaboration with the Eshelman Institute for Innovation, seeks to fill multiple Postdoctoral fellowship positions to study molecular mechanisms across various genetic epilepsies. Successful candidates will develop induced pluripotent stem cell–derived neuronal models and apply technologies such as electrophysiology, single‑cell RNA‑seq, chromatin conformation capture, optogenetics, neurotransmission biosensors, and live‑cell imaging to identify cellular and molecular signatures. These signatures will feed into the drug discovery pipeline and CRISPR screens to identify druggable modifiers. The goal is for fellows to develop specialized skills and launch independent research careers.
