Ultrasound Technologist – Mount Sinai Chelsea
Monday – Friday 10:00 – 18:00. Position at All About Ultrasound.
Responsibilities
Prepare and examine patients, verify identity and obtain history. Confirm examination aligns with clinical history. Inform physician of contraindications.
Operate and adjust ultrasound equipment, clean, perform minor adjustments, take safety precautions, report malfunctions.
Communicate with patients, representatives, staff. Explain exam and instructions, answer unrelated questions.
Develop or modify a procedure plan based on health status and history. Use independent judgment to adopt plan to optimize exam results. Perform exams under supervision, adjust scanning technique to optimize image quality.
Analyze sonographic findings to comprehensive exams. Perform measurements and calculations according to protocols and guidelines. Minimize patient exposure to acoustic energy without compromising quality.
Notify appropriate provider when immediate medical attention is needed. Evaluate patient status prior to discharge.
Record diagnostic images and data. Provide oral summary of preliminary findings to radiologist.
Ensure adequate supplies are available.
Maintain clean and safe working environment.
Assist in orientation and mentor new ultrasound personnel.
Answer telephones, schedule examinations, initiate transportation.
Qualifications
Associate Degree (AA) or equivalent from a two‑year college or technical school, or successful completion of an accredited Ultrasound/Sonography technical training program.
Successful completion of one specialty examination within 75 days from hire date.
Successful completion of an accredited ultrasound program within 4 months of accepting offer. Commence work within 14 days of graduation.
Successful completion of ARDMS Sonography Principles and Instrumentation examination prior to hire.
