Typical day as a Material Handler
Comparing identifying information and counts, weighing, or measuring items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
Unpacking and examining incoming shipments, rejecting damaged items, recording shortages, and corresponding with shippers to rectify issues, including data entry and routing items to departments.
Processing sub-assembly parts, including data entry and shelving of materials, while issuing materials to the production area and other internal departments.
Performs daily cycle count as required by the accounting department.
Issuance of materials to production area and other internal departments, pre-bagging of parts for production requirement uses.
Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
Operates forklift, tier lift truck or uses hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area.
Follows all standard operating procedures.
Responsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to the next management level.
Responsible for ensuring subordinates follow all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices and that all resources needed to do so are available and in good condition.
Responsible for ensuring personal and Company compliance with all Federal, State, local and Company regulations, policies, and procedures.
Performs other duties assigned as needed.

Qualifications
Have a High School Diploma or GED and at least 5 years of related experience.
Possess knowledge in JDE, SAP, or ERP software, which is preferred.
Hold certification and experience in the use of forklifts in a warehouse setting.
