Sycomp is seeking a
Low Voltage Technician
with a valid
EL06 Low Voltage Technician License
to support a new
warehouse buildout project in Portland, Oregon . This is a hands‑on role that involves low‑voltage cabling, fiber optics, and network device installation within a data center environment.
The ideal candidate has strong experience in commercial low‑voltage installations, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to follow structured cabling standards and documentation.
This is a full‑time permanent role based in
Portland , but the person will be required to travel to other locations for short‑term assignments. All expenses are paid.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate and execute on‑site installation of low‑voltage and network systems.
Install, terminate, and test
Cat5e, Cat6, and fiber optic cabling
per specifications.
Perform
rack and stack
work — racking servers, switches, and cabling per rack elevation diagrams and port maps.
Install and mount
wireless access points (WAPs)
and associated cabling.
Perform
RJ45 terminations
and patch panel installations.
Utilize
Fluke or equivalent test equipment
to verify cable performance and document results.
Install and label new network devices in existing racks following structured cabling standards.
Troubleshoot and resolve connectivity or hardware issues.
Maintain clean documentation and communicate progress with project leads and clients.
Qualifications
Valid
EL06 Low Voltage Technician License
(required).
Minimum
5 years of experience
in low‑voltage cabling or data center environments.
Strong knowledge of structured cabling standards (TIA/EIA).
Proficiency in installing and terminating
fiber optic and Ethernet cabling .
Experience with
Fluke cable testing tools
and interpreting test results.
Ability to read and follow rack elevation drawings, wiring schematics, and port maps.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment.
