Description This role is primarily remote in Alabama except for required appearances.

You’ll represent Liberty Mutual and its policyholders in moderately complex civil litigation matters involving claims for monetary damages or compensation for personal injuries or property damage of moderate value, and routine civil litigation and workers’ compensation matters involving similar claims. Under moderate supervision, you will manage cases from inception through resolution, applying your legal knowledge, research skills, and client relationship capabilities in a collaborative and supportive environment.

Responsibilities

Litigation Execution: Manage all phases of litigation, including discovery, hearings, trials, mediations, and drafting legal documents such as pleadings and motions.

Client Advisory and Relationship Management: Provide clear and reasoned legal opinions and strategic advice to Claims Representatives and insured clients; develop and maintain strong client relationships through transparent communication.

Technology Utilization: Utilize e-discovery and case management technologies to streamline legal processes, improve efficiency, and reduce operational costs.

Risk Evaluation and Case Resolution Facilitation: Identify, evaluate, and collaborate on strategies to mitigate legal risks, working closely with clients and senior counsel.

Documentation Accuracy and Compliance: Ensure all legal documents, pleadings, and motions are meticulously prepared, accurate, and compliant with applicable standards and client expectations.

Timely Client Communication: Provide consistent updates and recommendations to insured clients and claims professionals to maintain alignment with case objectives.

Contribution to Organizational Improvement: Participate in initiatives aimed at enhancing efficiency, effectiveness, and best practices within Staff Legal and Global Legal & Compliance organizations.

Ethical Compliance Adherence: Uphold the highest standards of legal ethics and compliance, following legal regulations and licensing requirements.

Qualifications

Juris Doctor (JD) or LLB degree from an accredited law school.

Admission to the bar in Alabama and in good standing; special licenses to practice before particular boards or federal courts may be required.

General knowledge of insurance law, and as necessary, workers’ compensation.

Proficient in e-discovery, case management systems, and basic legal analysis tools.

Strong analytical, research, and legal writing skills.

Basic knowledge of negotiation techniques including preparation, active listening, and problem-solving.

Demonstrated ability to manage cases from start to finish under supervision.

Effective communication and persuasion skills, written and oral.

Ability to collaborate with clients, claims professionals, and senior attorneys.

Organized, process-oriented with strong time management skills.
