Job Description We provide paid phlebotomy training with no prior medical experience required. As a Blood Collection Staff Member, you will use your healthcare and/or customer service skills to assist with every step of the blood collection process, including transporting and setting up equipment at community donation sites, creating a welcoming environment for volunteer donors, and following safety procedures while collecting lifesaving blood donations.
Take the time to personally connect with donors – listen to their stories and help them understand how impactful their donation is.
Collaborate with teammates to create a welcoming and friendly environment so our volunteer donors feel comfortable coming back again and again.
Be detail‑oriented all day, every day. This ensures that the blood you collect meets goals, regulatory requirements, and can be safely transfused.
May drive Red Cross vehicles and will work with the team to set up and tear down equipment at donation sites. Position may require a minimum height of 60 inches to safely operate these vehicles.
Standard Schedule (Baltimore, Maryland)
Staff work a variable schedule that may include early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays to best meet donor needs.
Schedule is provided two to three weeks in advance.
Pay Information
Starting rate: $18.97 per hour
Minimum Qualifications
High‑school diploma or equivalent is required.
Customer service experience and effective verbal communication skills are required.
A current, valid driver’s license with a good driving record is required.
Physical requirements may include the ability to lift, push, or pull heavy weights up and down ramps and stairs; good manual dexterity; the ability to sit or stand for long periods; and adaptability to irregular hours and frequent schedule changes. Position may require a minimum height of 60 inches to safely operate Red Cross vehicles.
All staff work as a team to set up and tear down equipment at mobile blood drives conducted at businesses, schools, and other locations.
Basic computer skills are required; proficiency with Microsoft Office applications is necessary.

Prior healthcare or phlebotomy experience (CNA, MA, EMT, etc.)
Prior leadership experience
