Job Description We provide paid training—no prior medical experience required! The Red Cross offers paid phlebotomy training with the ability to grow your healthcare skills and career within the nation's top humanitarian organization.
Key Responsibilities
Take the time to personally connect with donors—listen to their stories and help them understand how impactful their donation is.
Collaborate with teammates to create a welcoming and friendly environment so our volunteer donors feel comfortable coming back again and again.
Be detail‑oriented all day, every day, ensuring that the blood you collect meets goals, regulatory requirements and can be safely transfused.
May drive Red Cross vehicles and work with the team to set up and tear down equipment at donation sites. Position may require a minimum height of 60 inches to safely operate vehicles.
Schedule
Variable hours with some overnight shifts required throughout the year.
Staff work a variable schedule that may include early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays. Overnight travel may be required in some locations.
Schedule is provided 2–3 weeks in advance.
Pay
Starting rate $18.00/hour. Pay may increase depending on experience.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Customer service experience and effective verbal communication skills.
A current, valid driver's license with a good driving record.
Physical requirements: ability to lift, push, or pull heavy weights; good manual dexterity; ability to sit or stand for long periods; adapt to irregular hours and frequent schedule changes; minimum height 60 inches may be required.
All staff work as a team to set up and tear down equipment for mobile blood drives at businesses, schools, and other locations.
Basic computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior healthcare or phlebotomy experience (CNA, MA, EMT, etc.).
Prior leadership experience.
