Litigation Paralegal – Legal Assistant Location:

Newport Beach, CA

Salary Range:

$60,000 - $90,000 per year

About the Role We are seeking a detail‑oriented and proactive Litigation Paralegal to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills and a solid understanding of litigation processes, particularly in Trusts and Probate. This role provides essential support to attorneys throughout the litigation and probate process, ensuring accurate documentation and effective case management. You will also assist with client billing and administrative tasks.

Key Responsibilities

Document Preparation:

Prepare, serve, and file probate, trust administration, and litigation documents, petitions, and supplements.

Draft routine legal correspondence and ensure compliance with state, local, and judicial forms.

Case Management:

Organize and maintain complex case files and electronic documents.

Support attorneys through all phases of litigation: inception, discovery, trial, and appeal.

Discovery & Motions:

Assist with propounding and responding to discovery requests and motions.

Track and calendar deadlines for pleadings, discovery responses, and motions.

Calendar Coordination:

Schedule court appearances, depositions, mediations, and client meetings.

Manage filing deadlines and reminders.

Electronic Filing:

Handle e‑filings with state courts and third‑party vendors (e.g., OneLegal).

Communication Management:

Liaise with court clerks, bond companies, trustees, beneficiaries, and other law firms.

Maintain regular client communication for updates and information gathering.

Client Intakes & Billing:

Conduct new client intakes for Litigation and Probate departments.

Assist with monthly billing, respond to inquiries, and follow up on past‑due invoices.

Team Support:

Provide assistance to the managing paralegal as needed.

Qualifications & Experience

Experience:

Minimum 1-2 years of experience as a Paralegal, preferably with exposure to litigation matters.

Alternative qualification: Completion of 1-2 years at an ABA‑accredited law school may substitute for a paralegal or legal assistant program.

Prior experience with probate and trust administration is a plus but not required.

Skills & Knowledge:

Strong familiarity with legal procedures, case management, and document preparation.

Proficiency in legal software, enterprise management systems, and third‑party platforms used for filings and case organization.

Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.

Excellent written communication skills for drafting clear and concise legal documents.

Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.

Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with clients, attorneys, and court personnel.

Experience providing executive‑level administrative support is a plus.
