Base Pay Range $92,600.00/yr – $108,000.00/yr

Job Description Central Sterile Processing Manager

– Responsible for the 24/7 operation of all hospital sterile processing areas. Oversees and directs departmental activities, manages staffing, ensures compliance with regulatory and JCAHO standards, and drives process improvement and resource utilization. Utilizes the SPM inventory management system and independent judgment to meet organizational goals.

Essential Job Functions

Interview, select, orient, and evaluate staff; initiate corrective action as required.

Provide administrative support to senior leadership, including the Director of CSP and VP for Materials Management.

Ensure operations comply with regulatory standards and JCAHO requirements.

Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and standards for sterile processing.

Review and approve annual operating and capital budgets; monitor performance to remain within budget.

Operate and supervise the Central Sterile Processing Department efficiently.

Analyze departmental statistics and implement process improvements.

Maintain quality assurance records for sterilization, aeration, and bacterial monitoring.

Demonstrate leadership, collaboration, and effective verbal and written communication.

Establish and maintain internal inventory levels.

Provide ongoing orientation and training for all new personnel; conduct periodic competency reviews.

Conduct performance reviews in a timely manner.

Promote team building within and across departments.

Maintain visibility through routine rounds with physicians and nursing staff.

Coordinate and communicate resolutions for special or emergency requests.

Perform any related tasks essential to the department’s success.

Carry out additional duties as requested by senior management.

Act as a resource and support to supervisory and subordinate staff.

Respect rights, privacy, and property of others at all times, including confidentiality information.

Utilize SPM technology for process improvement and staff performance.

Required Qualifications

High School graduate or equivalent.

Thorough knowledge of OR instrumentation and medical terminology.

Five years as a Central Service Technician and two years in leadership.

Knowledge of all modalities of sterilization.

Experience with Case Cart and inventory management.

Departmental budget experience.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Basic computer knowledge; proficiency in Word, Excel, and e‑mail.

Certification for Central Service Technician.

Preferred Qualifications

Associate or Bachelor’s degree.

RN, LPN, or OR Tech with OR experience.

Purchasing experience.

Experience with employees covered under bargaining unit contracts.

PowerPoint experience.

Licenses & Certifications

Certification for Central Service Technician required.
