Position Overview The Patient Clinical Support Coordinator serves as the central point of contact for multiple divisions within the department of surgery. The position is responsible for providing comprehensive administrative and operational support to division faculty and has oversight of multiple clinical functions, ensuring the smooth coordination of day-to-day activities. Key responsibilities include managing scheduling and calendaring for division meetings, tracking faculty leave, placing reminder calls, processing ad‑hoc referrals, collecting, organizing, and maintaining medical data and records (including on‑call schedules, licensing documentation, patient charts, and related files) within both manual and electronic systems.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year‑for‑year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience scheduling appointments and maintaining calendars; coordinating meetings, facilities usage, events, and/or travel arrangements.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access).
Experience working in a clinic environment with knowledge of patient registration, documentation, care charts, patient histories, and medical terminology.
Ability to establish, update, and maintain departmental files, inventories, and records.
Experience in clinical operations, including Cerner Millennium applications (scheduling, PowerChart, IDX) and other frontline clinical procedures.
Experience with UNM purchasing policies, PCard, and Chrome River Expense.
Familiarity with UNM Business Policies and Procedures.
Additional Requirements Campus: Health Sciences Center (HSC) – Albuquerque, NM.
Department: SOM Surgery Administration (523B). Employment type: Regular – Full‑Time.
Term End Date: Status: Non‑Exempt.
Pay: $19.56 – $26.58 hourly.

ERB Statement: Employees working greater than .25 FTE under the New Mexico Education Retirement Act must make mandatory retirement contributions.
