Radiology Technologist (Part Time) Position: Radiology Technologist (Part Time) with the South Dakota Department of Corrections.

Salary: $26.00 – $32.00 per hour depending on experience. Pay Grade I. Location: Springfield, SD.

This part‑time position ( Responsibilities

Evaluate radiological orders to determine positioning, test procedure, and protective measures.

Operate fixed and portable X‑ray machines according to established guidelines.

Produce high-quality radiographs to assist medical personnel in diagnosing disease processes.

Evaluate finished products and equipment per quality‑control standards.

Schedule radiological testing as needed to meet offender requirements.

Monitor the system for logging all diagnostic tests performed, including offender name, number, location, and test.

Prepare digital images for review by radiologists, including preparation of electronic information.

Scan dictation into the electronic health record.

Clean radiology equipment and provide a sanitary environment for each exam.

Complete all related paperwork, bookkeeping, and requisitions accurately and timely.

Obtain and log necessary quality‑control measures.

Travel to other facilities within the state as requested.

Analyze informatics tools to optimize technology access and improve daily operations for Clinical Services staff.

Qualifications

Registered or eligible to register with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) as a Radiologic Technologist in Radiography.

Required Competencies

Provide direct patient care to offenders in a correctional setting.

Operate radiological equipment and perform all radiological examinations.

Read and comprehend the English language; communicate fluently in English verbally and in writing.

Create accessible documents and technical content following plain-language and accessibility guidelines.

Computer proficiency.

Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.

Knowledge of various types of X‑ray equipment.

Work independently and as part of a team.

Meet work schedule and be flexible with schedule.

Analyze data and solve problems independently.

Maintain required credentials as applicable.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience providing radiologic care in a correctional environment.

Experience with digital imaging.

Experience working with an incarcerated population.

Experience working with a diverse medical population as a Radiologic Technologist.

Experience working with various types of X‑ray equipment.

Conditions of Employment The SD DOC requires a clean drug screen, background investigation, urine drug screening, and the ability to perform essential functions. Applicants who may carry Oleoresin Capsicum (OC/pepper spray) must complete a written and practical self-defense exam and CPR to AHA guidelines, including passing a practical hands-on portion.

All new employees must complete TB screening upon hire, an abuse and neglect screening, and a drug screening.
