Job Description
This position provides patient care in an interdisciplinary science that draws on knowledge from the fields of biomechanics, physiology, kinesiology and psychology. It involves the study of how psychological factors affect performance and how participation in sport and exercise affect psychological and physical factors. The sport psychologist works with a comprehensive care team, addressing the entire spectrum of athlete wellbeing to enhance their personal, social, emotional, academic and athletic growth and performance.

Base Pay Range $56.00/hr – $87.00/hr

Pay Range Clinical: $56.76 – $87.59 (Exempt)

Full‑time, Days shift
Location: Southern Utah University, Cedar City, UT
Essential Functions
Deliver psychology services to align with the needs of athletes and partners across various leagues and organizations.
Collaborate proactively with the sports medicine interdisciplinary team, including physicians, athletic trainers, rehabilitation staff, nutritionists, and strength/conditioning personnel.
Consult with the multi‑disciplinary team to develop treatment, behavior, and discharge plans.
Provide education to colleagues, patients, families, coaches, sport partners, and the community.
If supervising psychologists‑in‑training, comply with Intermountain, partner institution, and professional standards.
Minimum Qualifications
Doctoral degree in Counseling or Clinical Psychology from an APA‑accredited program and licensure as a psychologist in the state(s) where patient care is delivered.
Board Certified in Sport Psychology or equivalent training.
Preferred Qualifications
Five years of experience providing mental health counseling and performance enhancement services to athletes and high‑level performers.
Completion of a post‑doctoral internship or fellowship focused on sport.
Professional memberships in the American Psychological Association Division 47 and the Collegiate Clinical/Counseling Sport Psychology Association.
Ability to supervise psychologists‑in‑training.
Physical Requirements
Continuously observe and assess nonverbal cues during patient diagnosis/assessment.
Frequent verbal communication with patients, providers, and visitors, requiring rapid response to emergent needs.
Manual dexterity for manipulating delicate equipment, including frequent computer use and typing.
