The CNA provides direct and indirect patient care under the direction of an RN or physician. Responsibilities include: Assist patients with activities of daily living, personal care, emotional support and more complex clinical skills. Provide care appropriate to the condition and age of the patient, including adult, geriatric and general populations. Meet psychosocial and physical needs within the CNA's scope of practice. Assist with patient admissions, discharges, transfers, and transportation to and from the holding room/operating room. Assist with general nursing care such as positioning, lifting, turning, and use of special equipment. Prepare patients for meals, serve food trays, assist with meals or feeds, and distribute drinking water and snacks. Answer call lights, anticipate patient needs, and make rounds of assigned patients. Transport patients to various departments for ordered tests or procedures. Perform procedures within the CNA's scope of practice per state law. Take and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, weight, blood pressure, intake/output). Report patient complaints of pain and any changes in condition to the supervising RN. Apply infection control procedures and prevent medical errors. Communicate clearly with RNs and medical staff, maintain a good working relationship, and provide documentation meeting current standards. Attend in‑service education programs to learn new treatments, procedures, and developmental skills. Treat patients and families with respect and dignity, and demonstrate flexibility, organization, and the ability to function under stress. Operate equipment safely, provide customer service, and maintain a pleasant and professional demeanor toward all customers. Assist with service recovery to resolve customer problems. Interact with coworkers in a respectful manner, fostering a calm environment during stressful situations. Demonstrate commitment to service through consistent attendance, punctuality, and proper scheduling of absences. Qualifications

Education and Experience

High school graduate or equivalent (preferred). Completion of a CNA course. Current CNA certification in the state of Maine. Listing on the Maine State Board of Nursing CNA Registry. Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS (required). Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Effective verbal and written communication in English (additional languages preferred). Basic computer knowledge. Ability to engage patients and team members utilizing the CMH Experience Standards. Ability to direct and triage in a fluid, dynamic environment. Ability to collaborate with all layers of the management and administration team.
