Maintenance Mechanic II, Facilities – Monroe Community College Pay Range:

$43,503.76/yr – $43,503.76/yr (Base pay range). Pay is based on experience and skill level.

Job Description

Perform a wide variety of tasks of ordinary difficulty related to the electrical, mechanical, or construction trades.

Install, maintain, repair, replace, and rebuild electrical fixtures, equipment, and wiring systems.

Install, maintain, repair, replace, and rebuild plumbing equipment and systems, including faucets, toilet fixtures, and drinking fountains.

Install, maintain, repair, and rebuild sewer and municipal water distribution systems.

Perform steam fitting, forging, welding, sheet metal fabricating, or machine shop activities.

Mix plaster and concrete; lay bricks and blocks, plaster walls, finish concrete work, cut stone, and perform related masonry work.

Install and perform routine repairs of carpets, floors, ceilings, insulating materials, roofs, gutter systems, weather stripping, paneling, shelves, doors, windows, and other building parts.

Make, assemble, install, repair, maintain, rebuild, and refinish furniture, floors, doors, walls, cabinets, stairs, and other wood products, equipment, and structures.

Prepare, paint, and/or refinish wood, metal, and other surfaces.

Install, maintain, and/or repair upholstery, glass, clocks, meters, and other miscellaneous items.

Perform mechanical repairs on automobiles, trucks, tractors, and other motorized equipment.

Install and maintain signs, traffic islands, and perform road marking tasks using hand‑operated machinery or pre‑formed markings.

Oil and grease equipment such as cranes, air compressors, and air hoists, and perform necessary repairs.

Operate automobiles, trucks, air compressors, riding/push lawnmowers, snowplows, and other motorized equipment.

Perform grounds maintenance work such as fence installation and repair, sign fabrication and repair, and equipment repair.

Conduct daily reporting as required.

Full Performance Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Personal Characteristics:

Good knowledge of common practices, tools, terminology, and safety precautions of one or more of the electrical, mechanical, or construction trades; ability to work from plans, specifications, and rough sketches; ability to follow oral and written instructions; skill in one or more of the trades; ability to operate hand and power tools; ability to provide lead supervision; establish positive working relationships; work in all weather conditions; exhibit good judgment; physical condition commensurate with role demands.

Requirements Minimum qualifications: Graduation from high school or equivalent diploma and at least one year of experience as a skilled worker in one or more of the electrical, mechanical, or construction trades. Additional experience may substitute for the high school diploma on a year‑for‑year basis. A valid New York State motor vehicle license (or equivalent proof) is required for transportation needs.

Preferred Qualifications

Bilingual in Spanish or other languages.

Additional Information Job Type: Full‑time, permanent. Hours: To be determined. Salary: $43,503.76 per year; eligible for a step increase after six months.
