Position Objective – Accounting Supervisor: The Accounting Supervisor supports the Director of Finance in overseeing daily operations within the Accounting Department. This position plays a critical role in maintaining financial accuracy and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures. The Accounting Supervisor will lead a team responsible for accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger reconciliation. As the company evolves, so will the scope and responsibilities of this role.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises the accounting team responsible for AP/AR, payroll, and reconciliations.
Provides guidance, mentorship, and performance evaluations for accounting staff.
Assists in hiring, onboarding, and training new team members.
Duties/Responsibilities
Monitor and maintain daily accounting operations including invoicing, cash receipts, disbursements, and general ledger activities.
Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end closings.
Assist in the preparation of internal financial statements and management reports.
Review account reconciliations and journal entries for accuracy and compliance.
Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
Collaborate with the Director of Finance on budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
Support inventory management efforts by reconciling inventory-related transactions and
Assist with audits by preparing schedules and providing documentation to auditors.
Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement approved changes.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Finance.
Required Skills/Abilities
Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management abilities.
Effective communicator, both written and verbal.
Proficient in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel in particular).
Familiarity with inventory accounting and controls preferred.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
Minimum of 2–5 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
Experience in inventory control and multi-location operations preferred.
CPA or CMA designation is a plus, but not required.
Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
Occasional travel between locations may be required.
