Memorial Medical Center – Insurance Specialist

Reports to:
Patient Access Supervisor
Essential Functions:
Secure pre‑certification referrals for all outpatient scheduled procedures
Verify payer eligibility and collect patient liability estimates
Maintain current knowledge of outpatient imaging and payer policies
Communicate with physicians and payer websites to resolve CPT code discrepancies
Notify patient and physician offices when insurance information is invalid or terminated
Work closely with hospital departments to forward clinical information and required documents
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent – required
Two years of college or medical office specialist education – preferred
Skills & Experience:
One year experience obtaining and verifying pre‑certifications with multiple insurance companies – required
Critical thinking, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision
Ability to function in a stressful, multi‑task environment
Knowledge of managed care and third‑party payors
