Responsibilities

Oversee & manage accounts payable and accounts receivable: Process high volumes of invoices from vendors and manage customer billing and collections to ensure timely payment.

Bank and general ledger reconciliations: Perform daily and monthly reconciliations of bank statements, vendor accounts, and general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.

Coordinate and support annual audits, working closely with external auditors.

Monitor cash flow, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis specific to chemical distribution operations. Set up key KPI’s & reporting to gauge accounting operations and review with ownership.

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax requirements including sales and use tax reporting.

Manage financial transactions involving inventory, cost of goods sold, and contract accounting relevant to chemical products distribution.

Lead, mentor, and develop accounting team members to improve efficiency and accuracy.

Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including operations, sales, and procurement for financial analysis and process improvements.

Maintain professional banking relationships and oversee cash management activities including wire transfers and credit facilities.

Maintain robust internal controls over financial processes to mitigate risk and prevent fraud.

Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement within the finance function.

Oversee financial systems implementation, upgrades, and integration with other business systems (ERP, CRM, etc.). Identify opportunities to optimize financial performance, reduce costs, and enhance operational efficiency.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred.

Minimum 3‑5 years of accounting management experience, preferably in chemical distribution or related industries.

Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, Sage X3 preferred) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills (including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs).

Proven ability to manage multiple priorities within a dynamic environment.

Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and critical‑thinking skills.

Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills.

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
