Located in Independence, Virginia, this organization is currently employing about 60 people, and positioned for significant growth in 2026. Position Overview

We are seeking a hands-on Controller to manage the company’s day‑to‑day accounting and financial operations. This is a working Controller role responsible for personally handling core accounting functions while improving the accuracy, efficiency, and reliability of financial systems. The Controller will supervise one accounting staff member and work closely with the President. Key Responsibilities

Personally manage payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable Maintain the general ledger, journal entries, and account reconciliations Prepare and deliver monthly financial statements and variance analysis Lead month‑end and year‑end close processes Monitor cash flow, working capital, and inventory accounting Coordinate payroll, sales/use, and other tax filings with external CPAs Supervise and work alongside one accounting staff member Improve accounting processes, controls, and reporting efficiency Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 5+ years of hands‑on accounting experience, including Controller or senior accounting responsibility Experience in small to mid‑sized manufacturing environments preferred Strong knowledge of GAAP, payroll, AP/AR, and general ledger accounting ERP system experience required Experience with Sage X3 preferred, but not required Proficiency with Excel and accounting software Ideal Candidate
