Instrument and Controls Technician III

In this role, you will need an excellent understanding of HVAC controls systems, strong overall controls troubleshooting experience, and demonstrated knowledge of maintenance, repair, and replacement of commercial HVAC equipment, including four‑pipe AHUs, VAVs, fan coil units, pneumatic and DDC controls and their components. The

candidate will also be a polished professional with solid communication skills driven to deliver the highest levels of customer service, committed to learning, teamwork, growing your talent and skills, and helping us deliver exceptional HVAC services at the world’s premier airport. Duties of the position will be performed on‑site during assigned shift hours; however, off‑hours, weekend, and alternate shift work may be required to accommodate special project requests, inclement weather operations, and other conditions required to ensure service co.

Essential Job Functions

Lead troubleshooting and repair of complex BAS/BMS and HVAC control systems.

Program, modify, and optimize DDC control logic and sequences of operation.

Analyze trends, alarms, and performance data to improve system reliability and energy efficiency.

Commission and re‑commission HVAC and BMS systems.

Coordinate with OEMs, engineers, and contractors during shutdowns, outages, and capital projects.

Provide technical leadership and mentorship to BMS Tech I & II.

Participate in after‑hours response and emergency plant support as required.

Follow all safety, lockout/tagout, and site operational procedures.

Here’s what you’ll need

Five or more years of experience with HVAC controls systems, including maintenance and knowledge of proprietary controls systems such as Johnson Controls (Metasys), Honeywell, Trane, Siemens, or similar BMS/BAS technologies.

Strong overall controls and troubleshooting experience with demonstrated knowledge of maintenance, repair, and replacement of commercial HVAC equipment, including four‑pipe AHUs, VAVs, fan coil units, pneumatic and DDC controls and their components.

Experience with work order management technologies such as Maintenance Connection, Maximo, or similar systems. Hexagon Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) software is used to manage accounting, asset data collection, work order flow and completion, performance data management and reporting at Hartsfield‑Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

Strong understanding of HVAC systems and central plant operations.

Solid knowledge of low‑voltage controls and BAS networking.

Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Valid driver's license with no major infractions (ability to pass an MVR).

H.S. diploma or GED.

Availability to work all shifts.

Ideally, you’ll also have

Associate degree from a two‑year accredited college or technical school or equivalent experience.

3–5 years of experience with HVAC controls systems, including maintenance and knowledge of proprietary controls systems such as Johnson Controls (Metasys), Honeywell, Trane, Siemens, or similar BMS/BAS technologies.

OEM BAS certifications (JCI, Siemens, Honeywell, Trane).

EPA Universal Certification.
