Position Overview We are seeking highly skilled and motivated Surveyors and Crew Chiefs to add to our team, to lead field survey operations for heavy civil infrastructure (highway/bridge) and energy projects around the United States. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented Surveyor with at least 3 years in construction survey, strong leadership capabilities, knowledge in dimensional control, industrial measurement, and a desire to grow their career. You will play an integral role in establishing and maintaining methods for safe, accurate, and efficient survey field operations, essential to ensuring accuracy in the field for construction.

Responsibilities

Implement project survey plans and lead field survey operations, managing daily activities of survey crews conducting boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, and construction staking surveys.

Operate advanced equipment: use GPS, robotic total stations, 3D laser scanners, and data collectors to acquire high-precision measurements; use CAD proficiently for layouts (AutoCAD, Civil 3D or MicroStation) to convert drawings into Trimble Business Center.

Interpret plans and legal documents: read and apply engineering drawings, plats, deeds, and construction documents to guide fieldwork; set and maintain control networks with tight tolerances.

Ensure data integrity: review and validate fielddata for accuracy and completeness before submission; maintain accurate field notes and documentation.

Coordinate with project teams: communicate effectively with superintendents, field crews, engineers, project managers, and clients to align scope, schedule, and deliverables.

Maintain safety and compliance: uphold safety standards and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

Qualifications

4+ years of field construction survey experience performing dimensional control and industrial measurements; preference for experience with heavy civil highway, bridge, power plant, water, and tunneling projects.

Strong understanding of construction staking, boundary analysis, and control networks; passion for detail and experience operating instruments with willingness to train others.

Proficiency with Trimble Access/Business preferred; familiarity with Leica or Topcon systems also acceptable.

Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D or MicroStation) and GIS platforms preferred.

LSIT or PLS certification is a plus; willing to obtain certification with company support if not yet certified.

Valid driver’s license and ability to travel regionally.

Accustomed to outdoor fieldwork in varied terrain and weather conditions.

Physical ability to lift equipment and perform manual tasks; strong communication skills and work ethic.

Willingness to work 50‑60 hours per week, including weekends; overtime pay is provided.

Base Compensation: $67,000 - $100,000 (actual compensation may vary based on education, experience, skillset, and location).
