Employment Details Full‑time, Regular – Location: Texas (TX)
About The Role The Ready Force Technician plays a key role in gas, water, and electric meter installation/exchange, maintenance and reading, surveying gas lines, and customer communication. The role involves extensive walking in outdoor conditions, strong time management, flexibility, and up to 100% travel across the United States.
What You’ll Do Meter Maintenance
Perform visual inspections of water or electric meters for leaks or damage
Identify hazards at meter sites and report accordingly
Properly change out water or electric meters of varying sizes and brands
Properly change out meter registers for AMI/AMR upgrade
Meter Reading
Read electric, gas, or water meters
Enter data collected in the field into a handheld computer
Surveying Meters and Gas Lines
Detect location of underground utilities and mark accordingly
Inspect gas meters and associated piping for proper coatings and evidence of atmospheric corrosion
Perform visual inspections of gas meters, lines, and fittings
Grade gas leaks by severity and report escalations accordingly
Identify hazards at meter sites and report accordingly
Clean and re‑coat/paint meters and piping
Customer & Team Communication
Refer all consumer complaints to the appropriate authorities
Provide general information about meter services to customers, when applicable
Communicate using telephones, tablets, and/or computers
Participate in company‑provided safety meetings
Key Responsibilities
Proficient in at least one to two core services such as meter reading (gas, water, or electric), small meter installation/exchange, or basic gas line surveying/detection.
Performs under close supervision.
About You Must Haves
Minimum age 18; no formal education required.
Valid driver’s license.
1+ year of experience in electric, gas, or water meter maintenance, installation, or reading; or gas line detection/surveying.
Possibility to complete Pipeline Operator Qualification (OQ) training upon hire.
Nice to Haves
High School Diploma or GED.
More than 1 year of experience in gas and/or electric services, or 2+ years in direct exchange of water meters and registers of varying sizes.
Your Skills
Valid driver’s license and completion of OQ training.
Ability to multi‑task and work independently and as part of a team.
Exceptional flexibility in daily routines, route scheduling, and work hours.
Good time‑management skills to finish tasks on time.
Excellent communication skills, comfortable interacting with management and customers.
Ability to handle unhappy or negative customers professionally.
Strong attention to detail for problem‑solving.
Capable of walking long distances and preparing for weather conditions.
Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
Basic GIS knowledge and principles.

Remain stationary for long periods.
Repeat wrist, hand, and finger motions.
Move objects up to 50 lbs.
Communicate effectively – must see, read, write, and speak.
