Headstart Teacher – Hempstead, NY The Economic Opportunity Commission (EOC) of Nassau County, Inc. serves as the designated Anti-Poverty Agency for Nassau County. Role Description This is a full‑time, on‑site position for a Headstart Teacher. The teacher will plan and implement educational lessons for young children, tailoring teaching methods to meet individual needs. Responsibilities include creating engaging and age‑appropriate learning activities, maintaining a safe, nurturing, and organized classroom environment, and monitoring the development and progress of students. The teacher will also communicate effectively with parents and guardians, support children in reaching developmental milestones, and collaborate with colleagues and staff in training and program implementation.

Qualifications

Experience with lesson planning and education, particularly in early childhood settings.

Strong communication and teaching skills, with the ability to engage with young children and their families effectively.

Background in training and collaboration with colleagues to develop and implement educational programs.

Ability to foster a supportive and engaging learning atmosphere for students.

Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field is preferred.

Certification in early childhood education or teaching is a plus.

Demonstrated devotion to empowering children and families, with a passion for education and positive community impact.
