Somali Interpreter

We are looking for a fully bilingual Somali interpreter to provide in‑person medical interpretation services for local Nebraska clients. This role offers flexible part‑time hours and the chance to make a meaningful difference in your community.
Responsibilities
Provide real‑time interpretation in medical settings.
Maintain strict confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
Use our online portal to print and upload vouchers.
Ensure timely arrival to appointments by using your transportation.
Qualifications & Requirements
Fully bilingual in Somali and English.
Excellent communication and listening skills.
Familiarity with medical terminology.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality/ HIPAA compliance.
In‑person interpreter only (must have transportation to attend appointments locally).
Technical skills for learning/using online portal (printing and uploading vouchers required).
Access to a printer.
Interpreting experience and/or certification preferred.
Background checks and drug screens required.
Schedule is PRN (as needed), part time (or less depending on languages spoken) and is flexible based on interpreter's availability and preferences. Applicants must have some availability Monday‑Friday 7 AM‑5 PM when services are typically needed.
Contract Details This is an independent contractor position; hours are not guaranteed and are based on availability, languages spoken, and client needs.
Proof of Vaccination Requirement All interpreter candidates must provide proof of vaccination as part of the hiring process. If you have a medical or religious exemption, please inform us, and appropriate accommodations will be considered. All medical information will be handled confidentially in accordance with applicable laws.
