Job Summary
A postdoctoral fellow to join the Laboratory of Genetics and Genomics, Intramural Research Program (IRP) at the National Institute on Aging (NIA). The role focuses on studying the DNA/RNA dual‑activity TOP3B topoisomerase complex, its role in neurodevelopment, mental disorders, aging, and RNA virus drug targeting, as well as purification and structural analysis of multi‑protein complexes related to DNA damage response and genomic instability.
Responsibilities
Investigate the biochemical functions of the TOP3B complex in transcription and translation regulation during neurodevelopment.
Perform purification of multi‑protein complexes and analyze their structures and functions in DNA damage response and genomic instability‑associated diseases.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to explore therapeutic targeting of TOP3B in RNA viruses.
Maintain detailed experimental records, prepare reports, and present findings at lab meetings.
Qualifications
Ph.D. degree or equivalent with no more than five years of postdoctoral research experience.
Background in RNA biology, neuroscience, epigenetics, chromatin, genomics, or experience with model organisms such as mouse or Drosophila.
Strong experimental skills in molecular biology, protein purification, and structural biology.
Application Process Send your curriculum vitae and the names of three references via email to Dr. Weidong Wang (wangw@grc.nia.nih.gov). The application deadline is 2/11/2026.
