Position Summary

Mecklenburg County Park & Recreation is excited to add a dynamic Recreation Facility Manager to the team! This position will oversee daily operations at Berewick Recreation Center and a secondary recreation site located at Winget Park Elementary School. The role includes supervising recreation staff, overseeing recreation activities and programming, managing rentals, and leading community outreach efforts. The manager will be responsible for budget planning and management for both locations and serve as a key partner in building strong, positive relationships with the community and internal/external stakeholders. The preferred candidate will have strong experience leading a recreation staff and a proactive approach to staying updated on industry trends. This position may require work evenings and weekends based on business/facility needs. Compensation & Benefits

Essential Functions

Manage fiscal management and budget planning for facility revenue and expense goals. Monitor facility revenue through admissions, passes, fitness, wellness, and recreation programs, and rentals. Manage staff including maintenance, program, and customer service personnel. Manage and monitor vendor, agency, and individual contracts. Participate in staff conferences to plan comprehensive recreation programs. Investigate and address requests, suggestions, or complaints regarding recreation services. Lead by introducing new programs, equipment, and facilities to staff and the community. Order equipment and supplies as needed. Maintain inventory control of equipment and materials. Establish and maintain partnerships with agencies, neighborhood groups, and user groups. Respond to emergency situations. Complete and maintain statistical reports on programming, attendance, and usage. Promote facility use for recreation and rentals. Supervise full‑time, part‑time, and temporary employees, create and manage schedules, coach staff, and conduct annual reviews. Approve program proposals and complete monthly safety checklists and site inspections. Preferred Qualifications

At least 3–5 years of recreational leadership experience. Recreation program planning experience. Commitment to building and maintaining strong community partnerships. Minimum Qualifications

Minimum of four (4) years of experience in recreation programming and one (1) year of supervisory experience or completion of an approved supervisor training program. Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Administration, Park and Recreation or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid North Carolina or South Carolina driver’s license with county driving privileges. Proficient in Microsoft Office and various computer applications. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Principles, practices, and techniques of public recreation programs for all ages. Knowledge of facilities and equipment required in indoor and outdoor recreation activities. Leadership and supervisory skills. Ability to prepare concise and accurate reports and develop work standards. Proficiency in program scheduling, coordination of classes and special events, and meeting needs of diverse populations. Excellent communication, adaptability, learning, trust-building, customer focus, people development, initiative, planning, safety awareness, decision making, delegation, change facilitation, leadership disposition, conflict management.
