JOB DESCRIPTION Position:

Campaign:
Tom DiNapoli for New York State Comptroller (Reelection)
Location:
New York State (NYC/Albany preferred; extensive statewide travel)
Compensation:
$8,000–$10,000/month, commensurate with experience
Reports to:
Campaign Manager
Position Overview Tom DiNapoli’s reelection campaign is hiring a Field Director to design, coordinate, and manage a statewide field operation with a heavy emphasis on labor and existing Democratic infrastructure.
The core of the field operation will run through unions, county committees, Democratic clubs, and coalition partners. The Field Director’s job is to align those programs, set clear goals, and make sure that efforts are pointed at the same targets and delivering votes. There is a
strong preference for candidates with prior New York experience.
Key Responsibilities Strategic Planning & Coordination
Develop the statewide field plan rooted in
labor, party, and coalition programs
rather than a purely volunteer-based model.
Coordinate closely with political, communications, and digital teams so that field work reflects the campaign’s overall strategy and priorities.
Labor & Organizational Field Operations
Work directly with
union political directors
and staff to structure and track member-to-member programs
Coordinate with
county committees & Democratic clubs
to ensure voter contact is aligned with campaign universes and timelines.
Staff Management & Support
Provide training and technical assistance to staff and partner organizations on best practices for data, targeting, and voter contact.
Create clear lines of communication so that problems in the field get escalated and resolved quickly.
Integration with Campaign Infrastructure
Work with the
Political Director
to turn political relationships into real field capacity and coverage.
Coordinate with the
Communications team
to reinforce key messages at the doors, on the phones, and in member communications.
Provide the
Campaign Manager and senior staff
with regular assessments of progress toward goals
GOTV & Election Operations
Lead planning and execution of
GOTV in partnership with labor and Democratic organizations .
Coordinate early vote and absentee chase programs, ensuring partners are working from correct lists and tracking results in VAN.
Qualifications Must-Haves
3+ cycles of campaign experience, including at least one in a senior field or organizing leadership role
Demonstrated experience working with labor unions, party committees, or large allied organizations
Experience managing staff and navigating complicated multi-organization dynamics.
Willingness to work long, irregular hours and travel frequently within New York State.
Additional Skills
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing complexity across multiple partners.
Strong communication skills, including the ability to be direct and candid while maintaining productive relationships.
Good political judgment and the ability to prioritize what actually moves votes.
Compensation & Schedule
Salary:
$8,000–$10,000 per month, depending on experience.
Classification:
Full-time, exempt, cycle-based position.
Timeline:
Start date as soon as possible; position runs through Election Day 2026.
