Minimum rate of pay:

$26.40 PLUS Daily PAY

Position Purpose S5 North is a 34‑bed medical inpatient unit that houses medical observation, stroke, and general medicine patient populations. The unit can monitor up to 16 patients on telemetry and operates as an interdisciplinary team to provide respectful, patient‑centered care for a diverse patient population. S5 North offers learning opportunities, skill development, and the chance to earn NIHSS certification within the first 6 months of hire.

Shift Availability Night Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM

Employment Status Full time and part time. Part‑time team members required for every other weekend and every other holiday per year.

Required Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or equivalent; one year specialized nursing education and completed pharmacology course.

Experience: Inpatient experience required or IPR rehab experience. New LPN graduates in LPN to RN program considered.

Certification/Licensure: Current and active LPN license in Michigan; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification current or to be obtained during orientation.

What You Will Do

Gather and analyze patient information.

Develop, implement, evaluate, and revise individualized plans of care.

Use teach‑back methodology to educate patients and families.

Actively seek to prevent potential hospital‑acquired complications.

Effectively communicate patient status, priority goals, and interventions during consultations, rounds, and handoffs.

Follow all HIPAA policies and procedures.

Behave in accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values of St. Joseph Mercy Hospitals.
