Responsibilities and Duties
Provide support to the Director of Nursing with planning, development, organization, implementation, and evaluation of nursing services and related programs.
Maintain current knowledge of infection control trends, methodologies, and employee health practices.
Develop, maintain, and periodically update written policies and procedures governing nursing services.
Coordinate nursing services with other resident services to ensure continuity of care.
Determine staffing needs for nursing services to meet resident needs.
Supervise and assist with scheduling of employees within state guidelines.
Ensure that direct nursing care is provided by licensed nurses, CNAs, GNA/CMA, or qualified aides.
Review nurses’ notes to confirm thoroughness, describe care, reflect resident response, and adherence to resident wishes.
Incorporate commercially produced instruction material and training aids into in‑service programs as needed.
Provide leadership in formulating the goals and objectives of the in‑service educational programs.
Job Requirements
Active RN license preferred.
Experience in supervision and teaching principles.
Experience in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices strongly preferred.
Knowledge and skills to provide age‑related appropriate care.
Supportive team member who contributes to teamwork.
Strong communication skills for tactful interaction with personnel, residents, families, visitors, government agencies, and the public.
Knowledge of nursing and medical practices, laws, regulations, and guidelines in nursing care facilities.
