Overview

The State of Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) invites applications for a Lead Forensic Treatment Specialist at Whiting Forensic Hospital (WFH) in Middletown, CT. The role leads a team of Forensic Treatment Specialists, guides patient care, ensures safety protocols, and fosters a therapeutic environment in a maximum‑security facility. Responsibilities

Lead and supervise Forensic Treatment Specialists on the unit. Implement and maintain patient care plans and security regulations. Support safe custody of patients and manage adverse security events. Coordinate patient management, medication administration (controlled substances excluded), and first aid procedures. Assist in planning and implementing patient activity programs. Qualifications

Minimum 2 years experience as a Forensic Treatment Specialist. Knowledge of psychiatric procedures, patient behavior, and safe custody in security conditions. Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. Ability to lead staff, observe and report patient behavior, and perform basic first aid. Fluency in American Sign Language is an asset.
