ADMINISTRATIVE MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST II - EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT (1052)

EXAMINATION IS ANNOUNCED TO ESTABLISH AN EMPLOYMENT LIST TO FILL ONE (1) CURRENT WEST JEFFERSON VACANCY IN THE DEPARTMENT OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AND FOR FUTURE VACANCIES AS THEY OCCUR.
Under general supervision, the purpose of the position is to work with the director and assistant director in updating emergency procedures and concepts using planning data, federal and state directives, and other pertinent references in order to comply with emergency operating plan requirements at the federal and state levels. The employee compiles all necessary resource lists and directories needed for emergency operations as well as assists in preparation of standard operating procedures (SOP) and overall Jefferson Parish Emergency Operations Plan (EOP). Prepares grants budget; prepares monthly and quarterly expenditure reports for grants; and works with Department of Homeland Security grant funding. This position assists in providing reports, data, and informational applications as required by state and federal agencies. Responsible for the operational readiness of the Emergency Operations Center (EOC). Reviews and collaborates the emergency operations plan on an annual basis as assigned. Conducts public and community emergency preparedness presentations. Performs related duties as required. This position is an essential, emergency duty status worker and may not be relieved of duty when the Parish President or their designee recommends a voluntary or mandatory evacuation of Jefferson Parish.
Position requires driving of a Parish vehicle, thus possession of a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record will be given preference.
Possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Emergency Management, Disaster Management, Homeland Security, or a related field,

significant (at least 9 months) experience in the implementation of emergency management logistical plans, production of emergency management informational reports, and the presentation of emergency preparedness to the public.
(ENTRANCE AND PROMOTIONAL)
The examination may consist of a written test, a rating of training and experience, an oral panel interview or any combination thereof. Acceptable applicants will be notified of the time, date, and place of any assembled testing. Applicants must supply complete and accurate information concerning their training and experience including a detailed description of their work experience, the names and addresses of all previous employers and the dates of employment. The information is subject to verification and the Personnel Department reserves the right to determine the quality and quantity of education and experience claimed for credit.
