Wayne County, NY – on‑site services required at multiple senior meal locations. Duration: 12‑16 hours per week. Contract term: 1 year with up to two optional one‑year renewals.
The registered dietitian will support Wayne County’s senior nutrition services for Home‑Delivered Meals (HDM) and Lunch Club 60 (LC60) congregate meals by ensuring nutrition program compliance, education, counseling, and food safety.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure seniors meet nutritional needs through planning and reviewing diets
Ensure compliance with nutrition standards through monitoring and training
Education of staff, volunteers, and the public through various delivery methods
Detailed Responsibilities
Menu Development & Certification
Review and certify 5‑week cycle menus
Ensure compliance with NYSOFA regulations
Conduct nutrient analysis and recipe modifications
Nutrition Counseling & Assessment
Review physician diet orders and assess clients’ nutritional risk
Provide individual nutrition counseling (especially to high‑risk clients)
Maintain client data in the PeerPlace database
Education & Staff Training
Deliver monthly nutrition education at meal sites
Conduct food safety training for LC60 staff and volunteers
Write nutrition articles for the “Threescore” newsletter
Food Safety & Site Monitoring
Conduct monthly sanitation reviews at all LC60 sites
Perform ride‑alongs for HDM to monitor food temperature and delivery issues
Review food handling, storage, and inventory procedures
Program Support & Reporting
Attend required field team reviews and advisory council meetings
Monitor subcontracted providers (meals/catering services)
Submit monthly reports to the Nutrition Program Director
Qualifications Required
Registered Dietitian (RD) credential (licensed in NY State)
Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, active auto insurance (mileage is NOT reimbursed)
Strong interpersonal and public speaking skills
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Publisher, and willing to learn
