Do you have a passion for working with students (K-8) and are looking to take on more responsibility in a leadership role? Then consider joining our team at the Chinn Aquatics & Fitness Center as an Assistant Head Camp Counselor.

About This Role The Prince William County Department of Parks and Recreation offers a Before & After School program for children ages 6-14 at the Chinn Aquatics and Fitness Center. The program serves a broad base of families. We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our camp team. The Assistant Head Counselor should have experience working with parents and children as well as demonstrate a high level of enthusiasm and caring for the program and its participants. The Assistant Head Counselor will assist the Head Camp Counselor with day-to-day program operations, staff supervision and direction, maintaining safety of campers, coordinating activities and serve as a liaison to parents as well as perform administrative functions associated with implementing a childcare program. Applicants must be able to work within a team setting to accomplish program goals.

Minimum Requirements

This position requires an 8th grade education.

Candidates must be 18 years old.

Preferences A successful candidate will have at least one year of childcare experience in a large program. Experience leading a team, lesson planning, CPR/first aid/MAT training, and driving experience.

Special Requirements

Candidates will be asked to operate a 15-passenger minibus, which will require additional (paid) driver training conducted by the county.

Criminal background check, fingerprinting, and DMV record check are required for this position.

The ability to lift 50 pounds.

Requires work in various environments/elements to include indoor and outdoor recreational activities.

Work Schedule The selected candidate must be able to work a split shift Monday through Friday to cover operational hours during the school year. The position will be expected to work 27 hours per week, and typical work hours are scheduled between 6:30 AM to 10:30 AM and 2 PM to 6:30 PM. However, there may be times when working a flexible schedule is necessary. During seasonal and summer camps, the selected candidate must be able to work between the hours of 7 AM and 6 PM.

Starting Salary Range $16.66 - $21.13
